Lee Clark says he is determined to win his first-team place back and believes there is room for him and Steed Malbranque to play in the same side Clark was on the bench for last weekend's victory over Newcastle after recovering from a knee injury.
He would appear to face a major battle to force his way into the starting XI because of the form of Frenchman Malbranque.
But Clark said: "Steed is doing very well and I'm delighted for him. But at the end of the day there are different positions I can play and other positions he can play as well. There's no reason why we can't be in the same side together.
"I want to try and play as many games as I can. I'm happiest playing football and I'm not really a good watcher. I'm never that happy if I'm not picked or if I'm injured."
