Chelsea Ladies 0 v 9 Fulham Ladies
Beaconsfield Sycob FC
Thursday 25th April 2002
On a mild spring evening Fulham Ladies playing their second last league game of the season took on Chelsea at Beaconsfield Sycob FC.
The pitch was in a terrible condition and made Fulham play more direct passes then normal. Despite this the girls adapted well to a different way of playing with sharp moves and precise long passes.
Time after time we saw Fulham players receiving passes behind the Chelsea defenders who were defending high up the pitch.
1-0 Katie Chapman (4 mins). A well taken corner from Rachel Unitt found Katie Chapman on the far post who headed the ball into the net.
2-0 Rachel McArthur (8 mins). A well built up attack was finished with a cut-back to McArthur who slotted the ball home.
3-0 Margunn Haugenes (21 mins). A good cross from Moore was taken down by Haugenes who shot via the crossbar into the goal.
4-0 Kristy Moore (30 mins). After massive pressure on the Chelsea goal, Moore finally picked up the ball 5 yards from the goal and hammered it into the net.
5-0 Marianne Pettersen (38 mins). A long ball played in behind the Chelsea defenders was picked up by Pettersen in full speed towards the Chelsea goal. She made no mistake and placed the ball in the bottom left hand corner.
6-0 Kristy Moore (52 mins). A good build-up attack from Fulham's left side with Unitt crossing in from the far side to Moore who volleyed it in with her left foot.
7-0 Sanchia Duncan (60 mins). A long ball from Jerray-Silver found Duncan in acres of space who hit a hard strike from 18yards out leaving the goalkeeper no chance.
8-0 Deena Rahman (72 mins). Rahman picked up the ball 20 yards out from the goal and struck the ball hard into the bottom corner.
9-0 Kristy Moore (86 mins). Chapman put in a good pass to Moore who was facing the Goalkeeper slotted home.
Manager Gaute Haugenes said "Because of the surface we had to play longer balls than usual. I was impressed by how the girls took the tactical instructions on board and the team spirit they showed. The quality they are showing in games and sessions at the moment is at a very high level and you can sense the competition of being in the squad for the FA Cup Final.
Squad: Hitland-Johannessen (Smith 55 min), Jerray-Silver, Terp, Mork, Unitt, McArthur, Chapman, Haugenes (Rahman 46 min), Moore, Pettersen (Gibbons 46 min), Duncan.
