Fulham Ladies will take on Doncaster Belles in the first game of the National Premier Division on Sunday 18 August. Doncaster Belles will be eager to avenge their 2- 1 defeat in the AXA FA Cup Final last May. However with fitness levels high and new signings adding to the strength and depth of the Fulham squad it will be a toughly contested game.
New signing Marieanne Spacey looks doubtful with a knee injury but fellow striker Una Nwajei, bought from Southampton over the summer, looks set to add to her goal-fest at the Women's National Soccer Festival where she was the tournament's top striker. Danish defender Katrine Peterson, the Manager's third signing of the summer, will add to the team's already impeccable defensive record.
Newly crowned captain Katie Chapman, looking forward to the season ahead, said "Last week's Community Shield defeat of Arsenal gave us alot of confidence. The teams were very closely matched and we're looking forward to competitive games like that during the season."
Doncaster Belles, who finished a fantastic second place last season, have never been out of the top three and have enjoyed Premiership status since the league was created.
The game will kick off at 2.00pm. Doncaster's home ground can be found at: Brodsworth Welfare FC, Welfare Road, Woodlands, Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Tickets can be purchased on the gate.
