Thanks Fulham

Thursday 7 February 2002

It's Sophie McGill here from the York City Supporters' Trust.

I just wanted to thank you for all the support Mr Al Fayed and Fulham Football Club have shown the Save York City campaign. The generous pledge of Fulham's share of the gate receipts has really boosted our efforts to ensure a future for our club and I have recently heard that your supporters raised a further £2000 through bucket collections at the Aston Villa game. This really is fantastic!

The Supporters' Trust was launched on Friday 1 February and we are now an Industrial and Provident Society, a legal entity, and can operate in the same way as any other company. We are currently in advance negotiations with the two parties who have made official bids for the club and they have expressed they are willing to give the Trust Board representation and also a financial stake in the club - this is essential to avoid the present circumstances reoccuring in the future. All in all, things are looking very positive.

I have put a copy of our brochure in the post explaining the work of the Trust and our aims for the future. This may help to explain further how the money pledged by Fulham will be used by the Trust to benefit the continuation of York City Football Club.

Once again, thank you for your help and support and for the hard work and generous contributions made by the Fulham fans.

Kind regards
