Aston Villa striker Darius Vassell is hoping to be fit to face Fulham at Craven Cottage this coming Saturday. The Villa front man has been suffering from a stomach virus - but the bad news for The Cottagers is that Vassell looks likely to recover in time for the weekends action.
Villa's joint Caretaker boss John Deehan told www.avfc.co.uk
"We were a bit unfortunate that we lost Darius at half-time. He did very well to play. He was playing with a stomach virus that he picked-up a couple of days ago.
"We were reluctant to take him off, but once physio Jim Walker said 'time's up' he had to come off. Dion was an able deputy and gave us a different focal point to our attack, but we couldn't get the goal."
England U21 ace Vassell has been back to his best in recent weeks and Villa will be hoping to partner him with Juan Pablo Angel on Saturday.
