South American football observer Sebastian Ramirez says newly signed goalkeeper Martin Herrera has the ability and experience to push for a first team place at Fulham.
31 year old Herrera signed a three year contract after joining Fulham from Deportivo Alaves last Thursday and will prove stiff opposition for Edwin van der Sar according to Ramirez.
"Martin is a superb goalkeeper and I was a little surprised that he joined a Club that already has a confirmed number one choice in Van der Sar.
"He has lots of experience and is a great shot stopper. He's had some wonderful game for Alaves and the only reason they would have allowed him to leave is because his contract had expired.
"Obviously the signing of Facundo Sava will have played a role in Martin joining Fulham as he is also from Argentina and they will no doubt be friends. It's a good move on Fulham's behalf and it will help both to settle well in London.
"I would not be at all surprised if Martin forces his way into the team. He's a determined man with pride and very good ability."
