Fulham held firm after taking the lead against West Brom in a tough match at the Hawthorns. Frenchman Steve Marlet scored the winning goal from a free kick that was given for a foul on Luis Boa Morte.
From the following delivery, Marlet placed a strong header past Baggies 'keeper Hoult.
Speaking after the victory, John Collins admitted that West Brom pushed Fulham all the way.
"It was a hard-fought second half. We could have got a second goal but all credit to them, they kept pushing us back and we couldn't retain possession. They kept coming back but we are delighted to be there.
"We knew they were a dangerous side but we were patient and got our rewards. We have been working on them. It was a great cross and a terrific header by Steve.
"But one goal is never enough and we should have got a second but this is a great opportunity. We may never get a better opportunity to get to a cup final."
