Roger Lemerre has called up striker Steve Marlet to the French national squad to face Scotland in a World Cup warm-up match.
Speaking exclusively to Fulham Today, Marlet told of his delight at hearing the news.
"I'm very happy at the news, my wife called and told me I was picked for the national team so naturally I'm very happy."
After making his move to Fulham, Marlet suffered a fractured leg that resulted in a frustrating lay-off.
Since then, the Frenchman has regained his fitness and is showing why Jean Tigana paid a club record transfer fee to secure his services.
With the World Cup so close, the call-up will also be of great reassurance to Marlet.
"The World Cup is now in two months so it's a good sign to be in the national team now. This has proven that I didn't take a risk in signing for Fulham. I spoke with Roger Lemerre before the move and he said it wouldn't be a problem for him."
