Move over Beckham

Never mind England pair David Beckham and Paul Scholes... The best midfielders on view this afternoon wore White shirts alright - but they belonged to Fulham.

I thought Sean Davis, who broke his silence earlier this week by talking exclusively with fulhamfc.com, ran the midfield along with Sylvain Legwinski who's impressive work ethic started the move leading to our goal at Loftus Road earlier today.

Steve Finnan (who won the MoM award) and Steed Malbranque also shone and at times you had to pinch yourself in the realisation that United's midfield of Beckham, Scholes, Veron and Giggs were being out fought and more importantly, out played by our boys.

Not that you'd know much about it if you listened to any radio match reports whilst driving home. As usual, the media headlines were all about Fulham holding United!

Fabien Barthez's antics were nothing short of outrageous. There's sportsmanship and there's taking the proverbial. Barthez got away with the latter. What a shame Steed wasn't alert enough to simply roll the ball into an empty net. And, from what I've heard since the final whistle, the goal would have stood.

Never mind... another game that we'd have lost last season and the team is improving beyond doubt. We were the better team today by some distance and that's something to be very proud of.

Now it's on to West Ham on Wednesday. Let's hope Loftus Road is as full then as it was today. The team, the Manager and the Chairman deserve it. And by the way, the football isn't bad either!
