Ladies preview

Friday 20 September 2002

Fulham Ladies face the biggest challenge of their Premiership campaign yet when they face three times champions Charlton Athletic on Tuesday evening. The teams last met in the semi-final of last year's FA Cup, Fulham beating their London rivals 4-1, and of course going on to lift the Cup.

That result will mean nothing however when the teams meet on Tuesday in what is bound to be a toughly contested game, the outcome of which will have a major effect on the standings at the end of the season. Charlton, one of a handful of title contenders, have strengthened their squad over recent months and will be keen to avenge their FA Cup defeat.

Fulham meanwhile have lost Marieanne Spacey for 6 months, following surgery on a damaged cruciate ligament and will also miss the influential Katie Chapman in midfield as she sits out her first game since announcing her pregnancy. However following a string of 4 successive victories producing 19 goals, without reply, confidence will be high.

Manager Gaute Haugenes said "There are no easy games in the National Premier Division but games like this are what the team look forward to, and train so hard for, week in week out"

This will undoubtedly be one of the games of the season and should not to be missed. It will played at Woking FC's Kingfield Stadium, 7.45pm kick-off. Tickets are charged at £3.00 for adults, £2 for seniors and £1 for children. These prices include a free programme. Fulham FC adult and senior ticket holders receive a 50% discount.

Fulham Football Club is delighted to be able to offer spectators the chance to win a signed shirt and even better to be presented the shirt, on the pitch, after the game. Simply turn up to the game for your chance to win! Ten runners up will get a fabulous Fulham Ladies poster!
