ASK Voitsberg 1-4 Fulham

Fulham's pre-season campaign continued to roll on as the Whites cruised past Austrian side ASK Voitsberg on Wednesday evening courtesy of goals from Sava, Marlet, Hammond and Saha.

Manager Chris Coleman continued his policy of heavily involving youth team players, with the selection of Green, Buari, Rehman, Hudson and for the first time this pre-season, England youth international Dean Leacock.

Trialist Jerome Bonnissel was also involved in a first half which saw Fulham net three unanswered goals.

Facundo Sava maintained his goal-a-game scoring rate as he capitalised on a penalty area scramble to stab the ball home from close range. There was some confusion surrounding the scorer of the goal as Sava's initial effort appeared to be trickling across the line before Barry Hayles rushed in and made sure. However, the lineman's flag indicated that the ball had already crossed over before Hayles made contact and the goal was duly credited to the Argentinean.

Steve Marlet, having missed out on Fulham's pre-season friendlies thus far due to his involvement in the Confederations Cup with France, wasted little time in getting on the score sheet. Playing in the right wing position, Marlet was set clean through by an excellent flick-on from Sava on 24 minutes and calmly slotted his shot past the Voitsberg 'keeper.

Marlet's participation ended on 31 minutes after he was replaced by Elvis Hammond. Five minutes later Hammond found himself on the receiving end of another through-ball which was placed past the advancing goalkeeper.

The second half was played at a frenetic pace with Voitsberg maintaining their attempts to play a tidy, passing game. However, the Austrians' style was frequently disrupted by excellent off the ball work from Fulham - as well as a spate of substitutions by Coleman which kept plenty of fresh legs on the pitch.

Substitute Louis Saha came on during to second period to wrap up the scoring for Fulham from the penalty spot after he was brought down in the area on 68 minutes. Voitsberg managed to net a consolation goal, also from the spot, but the evening will go down as another useful exercise in the build-up to the start of a new season.
