Fulham Football Club announced today that Steed Malbranque has signed a one-year extension to his contract that will keep him at the Club until the summer of 2007.
With the ink still wet on his signature, a delighted Malbranque was keen to put an end to the speculation that had linked him with a move away from the Club.
"I am very pleased to sign an extension to my contract with Fulham," he said. "I feel very good here, and this has made me very happy.
"There is a very good spirit within the team and the Club as a whole. This is very important for me - I want to be able to feel good about the Club that I play for.
"I think the future here looks very good, and I would say that I think we will be able to bring some success here. It wasn't a very difficult decision to make; I feel good here and I am very happy - it's as simple as that.
"I hope that this will put a positive message out to the fans. I know they are behind me and I think it was important to reassure them about the future by signing. I try to give my best on the pitch, and I hope that what I do pleases the fans because when they support me it helps my confidence.
"Now I can look forward to the future at Fulham."
Club CEO, Bruce Langham said:
"We are delighted that Steed has chosen to extend his contract. He is a firm favourite with the fans, a fantastic player and the Club is absolutely delighted to secure his services for another year."
