Volz Signs for Fulham

Friday 16 January 2004

Fulham Football Club has today announced the permanent signing of Moritz Volz from Arsenal for an undisclosed fee. The deal will see the player at the club until the summer of 2007.

The twenty year-old German born Volz began the season with Fulham and briefly returned to Arsenal in January while negotiations regarding his contract took place.

He joined Arsenal from Schalke 04 in June 1999 and made his debut as a substitute in the Worthington Cup. A loan spell at Wimbledon followed, where he became a regular feature and he continues to be part of the German national team set-up.

This morning Chris Coleman said:

'I am very glad that we have secured a permanent deal with Moritz. He has been a great asset to us this season and is a quality defender. He is still very young but shows great maturity on the pitch and I know that he will continue to work hard to develop as a player during his time here.'
