Leeds Utd Ladies 4-2 Fulham Ladies
Fulham's Ladies let a 2-1 half time lead slip as Leeds stormed back to claim victory in Sunday's match. The result was sweet revenge for Leeds after they were knocked out of the League Cup by Fulham only three weeks earlier.
The first ten minutes of this National Premier Division match saw both sides looking for an early break through, with Leeds having the edge and Fulham battling for every ball.
With no worthwhile chances from the home side, it was Fulham who went closest on 13 minutes with Kelly Baker finding space in the box - her shot flew just wide.
Fulham continued the pressure with four good chances being blocked. Then, with the Whites packing the Leeds half, they were caught when an early long ball set Sue Smith free on a run into the Fulham half. She successfully lobbed the advancing Leanne Hall in the Fulham goal to take the lead.
Fulham's response was immediate as they returned to the attack pinning Leeds back on their heels. After being taken down, Gemma Ritchie stepped up to take the resulting free kick sending the ball into a crowded box for skipper Jess Wright to head past Layla Young.
The rest of the half saw both sides battling for an advantage, but it was Fulham that went in with a half time lead when Jess Wright found Holly Anderson on the edge of the box. Anderson hit a perfect volley at waist height to produce the goal of the game.
The second half proved to be a very different affair with Leeds getting the rub of the green. The home side struck back when Mel Cook found space behind the Fulham defence to bring the game all square on 52 minutes.
On 60 minutes Kaz Walker put Leeds in front. The ex-England international was allowed to turn and strike a powerful shot into the far top right-hand corner from 35 yards to give Hall absolutely no chance.
Fulham had several chances to hit back, but their hard work was undone when a long clearance from the Leeds keeper found Walker breaking into the Fulham half. Despite appeals for handball from the Fulham defence, Walker slotted past the 'keeper.
The Reserves had an excellent result beating Millwall Reserves 12-0 to continue on their winning ways.
Next week the first team are away to Arsenal in a league cup at Borehamwood FC, 2pm kick-off. The Reserves take on the Gunners reserves at home at 2 p m.
