Zat Knight extended his nine year association with Fulham Football Club on Friday afternoon when he put pen to paper on a new three year deal.
Recent media speculation suggested Knight would be moving away from the Cottage this summer but as the centre back revealed to fulhamfc.com, the Manager’s vision for Fulham secured his future with the Whites.
‘I spoke with the Manager at the end of the season and during the summer, and he’s got some good goals, and I wanted to be a part of that.
‘I’ve been at the club a long time and there was some speculation about whether my future was here, but after speaking to the Manager and discussing the way he wants to play and what he wants to achieve, I decided that there were new challenges ahead that I wanted to be part of, so signing the extension was an easy decision to make.’
Knight is looking towards the new campaign with renewed optimism after last season’s relegation battle and is looking to reward Fulham fans with a successful Cup next year.
‘It was not the end to the season any of us wanted to have, and from a personal perspective it was a frustrating second half performance wise. But I’m really looking forward to the new season and I’m confident that we will improve as a team and have a more successful campaign.
‘‘It would be nice to win a trophy - The League Cup or the F.A. Cup. it would be great for the fans if we could achieve something for them like that.’
