Past, Present & Future

What was the first live football match you ever saw?

It would probably have been the old Toronto Blizzard.

Who was your favourite player when you were a child?

Paolo Maldini.

What was your first pair of football boots?

Some sort of adidas boot I think.

What was your first holiday as a child?

A trip to Florida.

What was your favourite subject at school?

Physical Education of course, ha, ha.

What is your favourite hobby away from football?

Just spending time with my daughter and my family; she is two-years-old, a great age.

Who scores the best goals in training?

Hmmm, not sure really…nope sorry I am going to have to pass on that one!

Who is the best player in world football at the moment?

Cristiano Ronaldo.

Where is your favourite place to go in London?

Favourite place…hmmm….my house!

If you could be Prime Minister for the day, what would you change?

Who do you think will win the 2010 World Cup?

Wow, that is a long time away; I can look past this summer! [Ed - the question is therefore changed to who Paul thinks will win the Euro 2008 Championship] That’s still tough, ha, ha, there are so many teams in is that could win. Hmm, nope sorry there are too many teams that could do it, I can’t pick one.

Who will lead the scoring charts this season?

Cristiano Ronaldo.

Could Australia, USA or a team from Africa win the World Cup within the next four tournaments?

Yeah, sure, why not…

What would you like to do when you can’t play football anymore?

I’m not sure really, perhaps go into management maybe.

How do you see football changing/evolving over the next 50-100 years?

I think there will be more technology introduced. There have been advances in technology every couple seasons, balls move faster, the pace in games increase. Perhaps something will get changed again with the offside rule. But on the whole the changes will be gradual as they have been in the past.
