Eddie Johnson Q&A

Tuesday 18 March 2008

Who was your favourite player when you were a child?
Romario. When I first got introduced to the game I was nine-years-old and I watched the 1994 World Cup in America. He was the player that really stood out.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up, and why?
I wanted to be a basketball player. Michael Jordan was my idol and I was living in a city where football, baseball and basketball were the dominant sports. Kids would always be playing one of these.

What is your earliest memory?
It was probably when I was about four. My mom fell asleep behind the wheel of our car and we went off the road, then came back onto the road, before stalling in the middle of it!

What football team did you support as a child?
Manchester United.

If you could travel back in time to any period, where would you go and what would you do?
I would probably go years back to when the dinosaurs were on the planet to see what they were like up close. You get the stories and the films, but it’d be cool to see what it was like.

What music are you listening to at the moment?
Lil’ Wayne.

What is your favourite hobby away from football?
Right now it’s probably playing the Xbox 360 with Clint after training. We play Madden ’08 and Fifa ’08.

What is your favourite drink?
Apple juice.

If you could invite any four people in the world, dead or alive, to dinner, who would they be?
God, Michael Jordan, Ronaldo and Dr. Martin Luther King Junior.

Do you have any tattoos? And if so, what are they of?
I have a couple. I have my daughter’s name by my shoulder, her name written between two angel wings. I also have a tattoo on my left shoulder and that is the face of Jesus with the words ‘King of all Kings’ on it. I have one on my hand as well, which is the name of my daughter, Zoe.

Who do you think will win the 2010 World Cup?
USA, I’ve gotta go for the US!

Give one holiday destination that you have not yet been to but would like to get to in the future?
Montego Bay.

If you could choose one player in world football to come to Fulham, who would it be?
Ruud van Nistelrooy.

What future invention are you most looking forward to being invented?
In American Football there is a method whereby you can challenge the referee’s decision by throwing a red flag down, so play can be reviewed and touchdowns, for example, are taken away if there was something wrong leading up to it. If they could invent something like that for football, like when the ball looks like it might have crossed the line but it didn’t, that would be good.

If Hollywood were to make a movie of your life, who would you want to play you, and who would your leading lady be?
I would have Denzel Washington to play me and Eva Mendes would be my leading lady.
