Fulham Football Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Marcel Gecov on a two year deal for an undisclosed fee which will see the player at Fulham until the summer of 2013.
The 23-year-old midfielder joins from Czech side FC Slovan Liberec where he has made 62 appearances since 2008.
Gecov started his career at SK Slavia Prague having progressed through the youth team. He made his top-flight debut in the Czech first division in March 2007 whilst on loan to SK Kladno.
He has represented the Czech Republic at all age levels from U17s to U21s and appeared for his country at the 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship this summer reaching the semi finals, narrowly losing 1-0 against Switzerland.
Martin Jol said:
“He’s a very talented player who got two assists against England. He was very confident then because he had a very good game – he knows he can play against English teams.
“He’s still relatively young at 23, he’s got a good engine and he’s a very good athlete. He’s been on Fulham’s radar for at least a year and the scouting reports on him have been very good.
“I’m happy with the business we’ve done so far this summer but we’ve released about six or seven players, so we need a couple more players to make a good, strong squad.”
