Following on from his impressive performance and first goal for the Whites against Norwich City last weekend, Fulham youngster Alexander Kačaniklić is looking forward to Saturday’s trip to Old Trafford for the game against Manchester United.
“I’ve never played there before,” he said. “In fact I’ve never even been there! I’ve only ever seen it on television. It seems like a pretty amazing place.”
And with such renowned opponents to play, Kačaniklić is determined to train hard and push on from his fine outing against the Canaries with a second successive start.
“[Saturday] I got to start the game, we won 5-0 and I got one of the goals so I’m really happy," he stated. "Now it’s about carrying on.
“Obviously, when you’ve got Man United you want to play. You always want to play.
“I’m going to do what I do every week at the training ground - work hard and try and get the Manager to put me in the team.”
However, the rising midfielder is keen to keep his feet on the ground, and is under no illusion that Saturday will be anything other than a very tough test for the Whites.
“It’s not going to be easy; you just have to see how the game goes,” he stated.
“We try to play our own game every game, and if we play like we did today we have a good chance of getting a result.
“We’ve only played one game remember, so anything can happen.
“And of course, what a team they have. It’s a team full of really good players. I’m just excited and looking forward to playing.”
The win over Norwich capped a fine week for Kačaniklić, who made his full international debut for Sweden against Brazil three days before the opening game of the season.
“Brazil have a team full of stars, it was good to play against them,” said Alex, who started the 3-0 defeat to the South Americans. “It was a good few days for me. I made my international debut against Brazil and then scored my first goal for Fulham.”
