It was a mixed weekend for our loan stars and none more so than Dan Burn who scored at both ends of the pitch on his npower League One debut.
The young defender joined Yeovil Town last week and immediately found himself in the starting line-up against Preston North End on Saturday. Despite taking an early lead, Preston replied with three second-half goals - the last of which was inadvertently turned into his own net by the 20-year-old. Burn did offer Yeovil hope in the closing stages though when he headed in a free-kick, however his side were unable to level at Deepdale.
In League Two, Neil Etheridge impressed in Bristol Rovers’ 2-1 win at Exeter City in his second appearance for the club. The Philippines international could do little about the hosts’ leveller after Rovers had taken the lead on five minutes. Eliot Richards grabbed the winner for the Pirates.
There was also a win for another one of our young goalkeepers, Marcus Bettinelli, whose Dartford side saw off Hyde in the Conference Premier. The visitors had taken a 28th minute lead, but two goals in the final five minutes handed Dartford all three points and a spot in the promotion places.
Elsewhere, Corey Gameiro’s FC Eindhoven lost 2-0 against De Graafschap as they remained 16th in the Dutch Eerste Divisie table.
