Marcello Trotta was on target as Italy’s Under-21s beat the Serie B Italia team 3-0 in a friendly on Tuesday.
Bari hitman Stefano Beltrame opened the scoring for Gigi Di Biagio’s team, with Fulham striker Trotta, currently on loan at Brentford, making it 2-0 when he slotted home the rebound after Valerio Verre’s shot had been parried.
Beltrame made it 3-0 to grab his second of the game with a long-range effort.
“It was a good test,” said Di Biagio. “The lads worked hard and the new ones did well too. If they are here, it means we believe in them and now they’ll have to prove with their club performances that they deserve to be part of this group.”
