Giorgos Karagounis says he has developed a strong relationship with the Fulham supporters and that he has always given 100 per cent for the Club.
The Greece international has become a fans’ favourite since signing a short-term deal at Craven Cottage back in September, and the midfielder claims that he has always held the Fulham faithful in high regard.
“I’ve really taken to the Fulham fans, and from the moment that I arrived they gave me a lot of respect and support,” he told the official website. “For a player to have that when he joins a new club is very special.
“I’m a player that gives my all to a team and to a game, I think the fans see that and appreciate it. They like their players to give their all to the cause. I gave my all to every single game.”
The 36-year-old Karagounis has played in Greece, Portugal and Italy during his career but admits that his time in SW6 has been one of the best as he felt accepted from the moment he joined.
“It can be difficult for a player to move to a new country, during my career it’s something that I have done a few times,” he said. “There’s nothing better for a new player to feel accepted and I had that with both the fans and my teammates from the very start. It’s something that made me feel very proud.
“I gave 100 per cent every time I put on a Fulham shirt, and that is my way of saying thank you to the fans."
