Losing Start For Sess

Ryan Sessegnon played the full 80 minutes, while Dennis Adeniran was an unused substitute, as England Under-17s' European Championship began with a 2-1 defeat by Sweden on Friday.

Joel Asoro took advantage of a mix-up at the back to put the Scandinavians in front early on.

England were the better team but failed to take their chances, and were duly punished when Asoro netted his second of the game just before the hour mark.

Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson did pull a goal back but it proved to be too little too late in Azerbaijan.

The Young Lions take on France in their next group fixture on Monday afternoon (5pm).
