The Ties That Bind

Tuesday 18 October 2016 11:00

Craven Cottage is the latest stop in Lucas Piazon’s footballing journey, with his move to Fulham the fifth loan switch he’s made since arriving at Chelsea as a 17-year-old.

“It was a last-minute move, so it’s not so great to arrive on the last day of the transfer window, but after this, everything was good,” Piazon tells Tuesday’s official matchday programme.

“I had a few options, but Chelsea could never reach an agreement with those other teams. I was getting worried that I may have to wait for six months to play, which isn’t something that I really wanted to do. Then on the last day we were able to reach an agreement with Fulham, which made me very happy.

“It was good for me to move to Fulham and my house is actually closer to Motspur Park than Chelsea’s training ground, so it makes it a bit easier for me to settle and get to know the Club more. It also helps having Tomas Kalas here as we obviously know each other well from being at Chelsea together. He’s a good guy and we get along very well.”
