Movin' On Up

As the song from the Fulham fans goes, there ‘Ain’t nobody like Tom Cairney’ and the midfielder has been the Whites’ stand-out performer in a brilliant start to the new season.

With Fulham unbeaten and sitting pretty in second spot in the table, Cairney takes stock of the Whites’ campaign so far in Saturday’s official matchday programme for the visit of Birmingham City.

“It’s been brilliant,” said Cairney. “We had a good pre-season, only losing once - a last-minute defeat to Real Betis. We kind of took that on into the season; we’ve been hard to beat and we’re playing good football. It’s been a pleasure to play in the team.

“We were always dangerous last season, just look at how many goals we scored. We were involved in a lot of great games for the neutral, but they weren’t so enjoyable for us. I always believe we’ll score in games, but now we’re proving harder to break down in defence.”
