The winner of October’s Goal of the Month went to Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson for his first goal in the PL2 encounter with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Iceland Under-21 had all three of his hat-trick goals against Wolves nominated for the award but his first effort finished as the clear favourite with 36 per cent of the vote.

Fulham travelled to Shropshire at the end of October to face Wolves and put in an emphatic display to claim all three points with a 4-1 victory.

Thorsteinson’s first goal came in the 14th minute when he cut in from the left onto his right foot and beat the ‘keeper from the edge of the box.

Wolves equalised through Aaron Collins’ 30-yard strike early on in the second-half only for another Goal of the Month contender to regain the lead with a header from Elijah Adebayo in the 82nd minute.

It was a brilliant recovery from the Icelandic under-21 in the 83rd minute when he smashed in his second after re-gathering Michael Elstone’s rebounded shot.

The 18-year-old rounded off his hat-trick in added time by racing through the Wolves defence to chip the goalkeeper.

Stefan Johansen’s free-kick against Aston Villa came second but received less than half the amount of votes as Thorsteinsson’s opener, claiming 17 per cent of the vote.

Third place was a more closely run affair with Tom Cairney’s header against Bolton Wanderers just edging Thorsteinsson’s third goal against Wolves by two votes.
