Hull City head coach Leonid Slutsky tells Tigers TV that he thought Fulham were the Championship’s best side last season, and that his team face a big challenge to bounce back from Friday’s 5-0 defeat by Derby County.

“The match against Fulham is a big test for our character, for our will power. I think it’s a key moment in our season and we must show a reaction after an unbelievable defeat against Derby.

“Everyone understands we must recover quickly in a short time, and really Wednesday is serious pressure for each player, for staff, for the head coach, for our supporters.

“I think [Fulham] changed their model a little bit because last season they played a lot of possession attack, always controlled the ball and had unbelievable advantage in each home match. Now the situation has maybe changed a little bit.

“They kept 80 per cent of the squad but, for me, tactics have maybe changed a little bit and now in attack they have very fast players and Fulham are now more dangerous on the counter attack.

“But of course, the type and class of players at Fulham can play in all kinds of position because, for me, in the last season, for quality of game, they were the best team in the Championship.”
