Big Match Build-Up

Saturday 1 December 2018 13:00

Here's all the pre-Chelsea content that's been published on fulhamfc.com in the lead up to Sunday's derby.

The Brede Hangeland Column

Brede Hangeland thinks Chelsea away is a fixture that the players will be relishing: “The SW6 derby is a highlight in the calendar of any fan and player at Fulham. I remember the games against Chelsea really well. They are a special occasion, and have a real derby-feel about them. Fulham will have the perfect week to prepare for the game. The psychology in football can never be underestimated, and what happened against Southampton was exactly what this team needed at this point. I expect to see a team having benefitted from another week under new management, lining up for a local derby with real belief. They should enjoy the occasion and seize the opportunity.”

Fulham Supports Stonewall Campaign

Tom Cairney will wear a special rainbow armband against Chelsea and Leicester City. He sat down with fulhamfctv to discuss the importance of the Rainbow Laces campaign.

Manager Presser

Claudio Ranieri has a lot of respect for Maurizio Sarri, and knows a difficult test awaits on Sunday: “It’s a tough game. Sarri has a good group and play well with the right philosophy; Sarri-ball. It's important now for us to show what we understood and where we have to improve. Against Chelsea, I told the players we can do everything perfectly well tactically, everything right, but after there is somebody from Chelsea who can score goals. We must be very, very attentive, but we are working hard and I hope we can have a very good derby.”

Chelsea Flashback

15,000 Volz is how Fulham's trip to Stamford Bridge 12 years ago is best remembered, as the Whites earned a deserved point in an entertaining 2-2 draw with Chelsea.

Schürrle's Stamford Bridge Return

André Schürrle spoke to Mark Schwarzer about making his first return to Stamford Bridge since leaving Chelsea almost four years ago.

Schwarzer's SW6 Assessment

Mark Schwarzer recalls his experiences of playing in the SW6 derby, and discusses what we can expect at Sunday lunchtime: “Whenever you play a local derby it’s always a big occasion, and one that both sets of fans enjoy. Fulham go in as underdogs, and what I think is important is that they continue on from what they did last week against Southampton. They need to continue their momentum, put in a really good performance and show that they’re moving in the right direction.”

Claudio's Chelsea preview

Claudio Ranieri wants his Fulham side to demonstrate the same levels of grit and diligence shown last weekend against Southampton as they head into the SW6 derby versus Chelsea.
