Opposition Camp

Jose Mourinho sees similarities in the situations which his side, and the Whites find themselves in, stating both teams desperately need the points.

Manchester United go into the game without a win in four Premier League games, having drawn 2-2 with Arsenal last time out.

“I know only two days [to prepare] is not easy. Fulham are in the same situation as us [needing points] but probably the way they are coming to play - or try to play - will not demand as much from them as us but no excuses.

“I sat here a few weeks ago speaking about the December month with no defeats that’s a reality, good fights, good spirit, but just one victory against Young Boys and three draws and we need points, but Fulham is the same, they need points.”

The United boss is also aware of the threat posed by not only the Fulham side, but his opposing number.

“There are good players in the other side, I repeat that the position, the points sometimes don’t say much about the real potential of the team.

“He is one of the two most important managers in the history of the Premier League, in my opinion, so they have the potential to come here tomorrow and to give us a very difficult match.”

Claudio Ranieri holds Mourinho in high regards following a warm welcome back to football in England.

“He told me, ‘Welcome back, all the best’. We speak about everything. It was a text message. Sometimes we speak. He’s a fantastic man.

“I have known him for a long time, when he came to Chelsea and when he was in Italy, and he was very polite with me. He’s a great man, coach, manager.”
