Slaviša Jokanović has warned his side against complacency, as the Whites look to extend their good league form at Barnsley on Saturday.
“We must be focused and ready to work hard for what’s immediately in front of us - we can’t be overconfident,” said Fulham’s Head Coach.
“We played a very good game against Burton. Our plan worked perfectly, and we can be satisfied. We showed many positive things and showed some progress.
“We’re fighting for important targets, but we’ve achieved absolutely nothing. Our job is to only think about Barnsley and be ready for this game.
“All the people around myself are working hard and we can’t relax. We won the game against Burton because we respected them and were really focused. We must believe, trust each other and push altogether – that’s the reason why we’ve improved. We must keep going in this fight and be ready for the next step.
“Barnsley are a young team who are very aggressive and a team who will try to take advantage of any mistakes. We must be intelligent and brave to handle the pressure, especially at the beginning of the game, and can’t give them the opportunity to create damage. We must respect them in a similar way to Burton and be available for the challenge.”
Floyd Ayité and Sheyi Ojo remain absent for the weekend’s fixture, although Tom Cairney is expected to be available for selection.
“I expect Ayité will start working with us next week and I believe Ojo will need one week more,” Jokanović explained.
“This season, we’ve had many ups and downs with Tom Cairney. He’s a very important player and I expect he will be available as part for the game immediately in front of us.”
Fulham completed the loan signing of Southampton youngster Matt Targett earlier this week, and Jokanović believes the new recruit can be instrumental in his side’s Play-Off push.
“Matt can be an important player for us,” said Jokanović.
“He’s a young, talented player with Premier League experience. In the last few days, he’s shown his quality, he’ll adapt quickly and will be available to help us immediately. He can be a perfect player who can play behind the left winger and provide more options for my team.”
