Kevin McDonald’s powerful drive at Millwall has come third in the voting for Fulham’s 2017/18 Goal of the Season.
After a tough first half, the Whites took control after the restart at the Den back in April when Ryan Sessegnon netted inside 42 seconds, but the next goal was always going to be crucial.
Thankfully we only had to wait 10 minutes for it, when McDonald’s right foot turned into a traction engine.
Receiving the ball from Matt Targett midway inside the Millwall half, a turn of pace from McDonald sees him put George Saville on his backside, clearing a path to the edge of the box.
Advancing several yards and cutting slightly infield, McDonald cranks back his right peg and unleashes a swerving, venomous effort that sails into the top left-hand corner. Jordan Archer got something on it, but it was too powerful for the Lions goalkeeper to keep out.
It ended up winning our monthly award, and McDonald has now followed up his third-place Player of the Season finish with an equivalent result in Goal of the Season.
We'll announce the runner-up on fulhamfc.com on Wednesday.
