Slaviša Jokanović is looking forward to soon having a full squad to work with, following Tom Cairney’s return to full training.
The skipper has been missed in the middle of the park for a large chunk of this season, but is back in contention for the visit of AFC Bournemouth at the weekend.
It means that Joe Bryan is now the only one left on the treatment table and Jokanović is close to having a fully fit group for the first time this season.
“Tom Cairney is a really important player for us,” he admitted. “After nine-and-a-half weeks he started working with us [on Tuesday], although he had a few training sessions before the Everton game. Now he needs a little bit of time to catch his best level.
“There’s no excuse or justification for the beginning of this season, but injuries haven’t been our best partner in this period behind us. Since we signed a few players on the last day [of the transfer window] I have never worked with all the team.“Right now I am only without Joe in the team. Joe is not available to work with us, but the good news is that Tom Cairney started working with us and I am close to working with a complete team and approaching games without any kind of these problems.”
