Man of the Match Result

Marek Rodák has won Man of the Match for his imperious display at Swansea City on Friday.

Fulham went into the break two goals up but it could have been different were it not for the form of Rodák, with the young goalkeeper making no fewer than five saves in the opening 45.

Arguably his best stop came when the match wasn’t even six minutes old. André Ayew caught the defence out with a cheeky outside of the boot cross to find Sam Surridge unmarked a few yards from goal, but Rodák made himself big to deny what seemed a certain goal.

Seconds later he had be at full stretch to deny Kyle Naughton, while he also frustrated George Byers, Matt Grimes and Ayew before the referee blew for the interval. The one to keep out Byers was particularly impressive, after the Swans midfielder had placed it perfectly inside the far post.

Rodák wasn’t as busy in the second period, but he still added to his tally of saves with a flying stop to keep Byers out again.

Byers did eventually breach Rodák’s line with a downwards header, but the Slovakian can still be proud of his display.

It was a performance that was not lost on his teammates. Aleksandar Mitrović took the headlines for his critical two goals, but speaking to Sky Sports afterwards, he said of his goalkeeper: “He is unbelievable. Since he came in, he has been unbelievable.

“He gives us security, he made some incredible saves, he gives energy to the team. We see this every day in training and he needs to continue like this and keep up this form.”

Despite Mitrović’s heroics, Rodák was a comfortable winner of Man of the Match, taking 67.2 per cent of the vote.

Mitro came in second with 22.9 per cent, ahead of Denis Odoi on 4.3 per cent.
