2019 sees the Club celebrate its 140 Year Anniversary since our foundation in 1879.

With a long and colourful history, Fulham FC is rightly positioned as London’s original football club. To mark the start of 2019 and year of our 140th anniversary, the Club recently held a celebration event at Fulham St. Andrew’s church, the birthplace of Fulham FC when formed in 1879 and where the genesis of our story unfolded.

Fulham St. Andrew’s Church, located on Greyhound Road about a mile from Craven Cottage, is where it all began 140 years ago when Revd. John Henry Cardwell set up a Sunday school team. Fulham St. Andrew’s, which became Fulham Football Club a decade later, played their very first matches on a section of land on Star Road, very close to the church.

As part of the 140 Years Anniversary, the Club is launching a special edition Anniversary Shirt which will be worn by the First Team in one of the Club’s pre-season fixtures this year.

This limited-edition 140 Years Anniversary Shirt pays tribute to our rich history. A twist on the design of the Club’s first-ever strip, the shirt features Fulham FC’s famous white and black colours which were introduced for the first time in 1889.

The event at St. Andrew’s saw Fulham FC’s record goal scorer Gordon Davies, Sean Davis - a player who featured for the Club across all four professional divisions – the Club’s Historian and Club Chaplain, as well as members from St. Andrew’s Church, were joined by some of the Club’s most loyal and long-serving fans.

Those in attendance for the occasion were provided with a first glimpse of the Anniversary Shirt, as well as an opportunity to share their own personal memories and stories of their time either playing for or supporting the Club.

That same afternoon, the Fulham family was further brought together when participants from the Fulham FC Foundation’s programmes - including the Fulham Badgers and Walking Football teams - were joined by members of Fulham FC’s Men’s, Women’s and Academy sides where they also sported the new 140 Years Anniversary Shirt.

The commemorative shirt, emblazoned with a 140 Years crest, will be available to purchase from Friday 8th February.

Only a limited number – 1,879 shirts – have been produced, each individually numbered and certificated to mark their exclusivity.

Keep an eye out on tomorrow for further pictures of the Anniversary Shirt, as well as details of how to purchase.
