Aleksandar Mitrović has made it back to back ICM Capital Goal of the Month wins following his strike against Huddersfield Town.
After picking up the accolade for his winner against a relegation rival the previous month, the Fulham number nine did likewise in December.
Tensions were high at Craven Cottage in our final match of 2018 after Mitrović had been denied the opportunity to win the game from the penalty spot, but it mattered not in the end courtesy of a dramatic climax.
After halting a Terriers attack, Fulham countered with Ryan Sessegnon and Mitrović, with the pair finding themselves up against four defenders.
The pair’s linkup has always been excellent and they demonstrated it again as Sess slid in a perfect pass for his teammate to run onto, with Mitrović doing the rest as he slotted it through the legs of Jonas Lössl to send the home crowd wild.
“It was a great moment, a great day, and a late Christmas present for our fans,” Mitro said to fulhamfctv.
“It was a great ball from Sessegnon, we know each other so I knew he would pass me the ball. I was ready and shot through the keeper’s legs into the net, which is the most important thing.”
Mitrović won the December award by a landslide with 82.4 per cent of the votes, ahead of Aboubakar Kamara (Leicester City) and Sessegnon (Wolverhampton Wanderers) who tied on 6.5 per cent apiece.
