Claudio Ranieri knows what to expect from Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday evening.

The Seagulls’ effective team performances have led to them occupying 13th spot in the Premier League, but Ranieri wants to see his side leave everything out on the pitch as we go after all three points at Craven Cottage.

“It’s crucial for us,” he admitted. “[Brighton] is a good team, very close, very direct. They counter attack very fast.

“They’re very dangerous from set-plays, but we have to win. We have to win and we have to make the maximum effort to win the match.

“They are playing very well, very simple. They go straight away, they’re one of the last teams in possession, and that means they want to counter attack. They close all the space very well, they try to break the lines and win free-kicks and corners.

“They played with just five or six [first team regular] players in the cup and they will have recovered very well. Tomorrow evening will be a very good battle.”

With Fulham currently seven points from safety, a big effort is needed in the final 15 matches if we are to retain our top flight place.

And Ranieri insists the Whites will be giving all they’ve got in an attempt to claw our way out of the drop zone.

“Look, I am a positive man,” he explained. “I know it’s a hard job, but it was hard when I came and it’s hard now.

“We have to try to fight until the end. In this moment, we are relegated [with our position in the table], but it’s not possible to get worse than this. We can only improve. And I believe we will improve.

“We are always positive and never give up, and we are ready to give maximum effort.”
