The Whites lost 3-2 away at Blackburn, George Williams got on the score sheet twice.

Fulham lost 3-2 away to Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday night in their rearranged fixture. George Williams scored both goals for the Whites.

Williams scored the opening goal in the 53rd minute but Blackburn were quick to respond through Lewis Mansell. Blackburn scored their second 20 minutes later, Grayson getting the goal from the corner before the match was sealed by Tomlinson.

Williams was able to grab another goal just before the fulltime whistle although it wasn’t enough to salvage a point for the Whites.

Fulham came into this game only needing one point to secure a play-off spot with two games remaining. This match was coming off the back of a 3-1 away loss at Newcastle and the Whites were looking to bounce back.

Blackburn needed to win this game to keep their play-off hopes alive, and won their last game against West Brom 2-1 at the Lancashire FA.

The match kicked off and Fulham started the better of the two teams, with Williams and Elijah Adebayo chasing down balls forward and pestering the Blackburn defence.

The first real chance came in the 6th minute as Adebayo nodded a high ball over the defence for Williams to run onto. The Welshman took it at his feet and shot straight past the keeper, but the flag was up and the score remained level.

Minutes later the Whites had another golden chance, Mattias Kait passing the ball across the face of goal. Adebayo at the far post attempted to back-heal the ball into the goal, but the Rovers keeper made a crucial save.

Blackburn’s first chance came in the 12th minute, Joseph Rankin-Costello shot on target from the left but Magnus Norman saw it all the way and caught it without any problems.

Ten minutes later it was Adebayo with a great chance to break the deadlock. The number nine was through on goal and he let loose, and he somehow the Rovers keeper pushed it out for a corner.

At the quarter mark point that the Whites were in control of the match, Sheckleford slotted a perfectly weighted ball to Williams, he got a cross away to de la Torre. The American fired at goal and it floored a defender with the ball smashing into his head.

Tayo Edun was next with the great chance, bearing down at goal from the left, he slightly pulled his shot wide of the right post.

Just before the half time break Blackburn attacked Fulhams goal. The striker fired a dipping shot from the edge of the area and Norman punched it over his bar to keep the score level going into the break.

With the second half under way the Whites were keeping possession but Blackburn were pressing hard looking for mistakes.

Eight minutes into the half the deadlock was finally broken by Fulham. Jerome Opoku, who had come on for Davies at half time sent a sensational long ball forward over the defence. Williams broke forward and ended up in a one on one, using a bit of trickery to beat the keeper and giving the Whites the lead.

It took a matter of minutes for Blackburn to get back into the game. Their winger sweeping a ball into the box, Mansell was on hand and struck his effort past Norman from close range.

Blackburn went ahead for the first time in the 68th minute. An attacker in a White and Blue shirt had shot from long range, his deflected off a Fulham defender. Norman chased it but couldn’t keep the ball in play.

The resulting corner was whipped in and a scrambled ensued, and Grayson got a final poke with his foot into the back of the net to double their lead.

Blackburn's third goal came eight minutes after the second to put daylight between themsleves and Fulham.  Connor Thomson crossed hard and low from the right into the box and Tomlinson slotted it into the back of the net.

Fulham tried hard to get back into the match, with chances falling to Kait. He had two efforts, one saved by Andrew Fisher, and Kait had a second effort in quick succession blocked with some last ditch defending.

The pressure from Fulham mounted, substitute Jayden Harris got a shot away and the keeper made a good save, but the ball richocheted into the path of Williams who knocked it past him deep into stoppage time.

Williams grabbed the ball and ran back to the centre circle but soon after play resumed the whistle blew for the end of the match.

That loss means it will all come down to the final week to see who makes the play offs.
