A Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson hat trick and a goal from Elijah Adebayo secured three points for the Whites against Wolves.

Fulham beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-1 in Telford on Monday evening. A hat trick from Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson helped get the Whites over the line, and a header from Elijah Adebayo crucially put the Whites ahead the second time in the match.

It was an interesting opening 10 minutes as both teams tried to work their way forward, Wolves put several crosses into Fulham’s box but couldn’t find anything.

The first good chance on goal came in the 14th minute, and it was Thorsteinsson at the edge of the area. Always going for goal himself, he looked up and curled and effort into the top right for the opener.

In the 20th minute Adebayo won a free kick close to the touch line, it was crossed in towards Atkinson but the linesman raised his flag. Wolves went offside in their next attack as Wilson headed on target, but Ashby-Hammond read it well nonetheless.

The goal certainly opened things up, 25 minutes in and it was end to end. Christian Herc hit over the bar for Wolves, and Jenz sprinted the pitch and put a dangerous ball into the area which was read well by Harry Burgeone.

Fulham broke at speed with Matt O’Riley using some trickery to get past two defenders, Luca de la Torre shipped a ball to Thorsteinsson, in a similar position to his goal went for a shot but it was blocked this time by an orange shirt.

Wolves best chance of the half came in the 35th minute. Armstrong drove a shot to his left, and Ashby-Hammond was called into action to make a very good diving save.

Wolves won a free kick 25 yards from goal four minutes before the break. Armstrong stepped up and another good strike on goal, Ashby-Hammond made another diving save, pushing the ball onto the post before getting up and extinguishing another effort.

The second half started at a far quicker pace than the first with both teams going more direct, Aron Davies was called into action to make an important clearance.

Wolves finally got their equaliser after a lot of pressure, but it took a sensational strike to beat Ashby-Hammond with Collins hitting his shot from over 30–yards out and clipping the crossbar on the way in.

Wolves had another good chance in the 63rd minute, their captain Donnovan Wilson shot low and hard from outside the area, but Ashby-Hammond had it covered.

The Whites tried to work their way up field, with Adebayo trying to get in behind, but the Wolves defence was resilient for a period.

Having been defensive after taking an early lead in the match, Fulham came out of the blocks after conceding. The match looked like it was going to end as a stalemate before a crazy ten minute blitz ensued.

A great ball from the left by O’Riley found Adebyao, he bulleted a header on target beating the keeper to retake the lead.

Straight from the restart the Whites regained possession, just inside the area Michael Elstone unleashed a shot and was unlucky not to score, rattling the crossbar.

Thorsteinsson was on hand with the follow up and with a great touch to get the ball under his spell, hecalmly slotted into the back of the net for his second of the evening.

The Icelandic put the cherry on the cake in added time, racing through on goal he chipped the keeper at the edge of the area and wheeled away in celebration claiming his hat trick.

The match at 1-1 could have gone either way, but the Whites found an extra level when needed and finished the evening 4-1 winners.
