Peter Grant's Under-23 side beat Norwich 2-0 at Motspur Park, with Adebayo and Thompson securing all three points with goals.

Fulham beat Norwich City at Motspur Park on Friday evening, claiming all three points for the third consecutive home game.

Elijah Adebayo continued his goal scoring form from the spot in the first half, before Cameron Thompson sealed the win with five minutes to go.

The Whites came into this match looking for their third consecutive win in the league having beaten Wolverhampton Wanderers in Telford on Monday evening thanks to a Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson hat-trick and an Adebayo header.

It was a quick start from the Whites and they attacked from the kick off. A long ball was played downfield to Adebayo, he passed to Thorsteinsson who put a dangerous cross into the box which set the tone for the first half.

Next, Fulham attacked down the right and won a corner through Djed Spence who was making his Under-23 debut.

The ball was whipped in and Michael Elstone could have opened his account with a bulleted header at goal, but a good save denied him from Aston Oxborough.

In the fifth minute the Canaries won a free kick, but the ball was crossed in and a meek header on target presented no problems for Luca Ashby-Hammond.

In the 11th minute Thorsteinsson floated a wonderful ball forward as Adebayo beat the offside trap, he would have been through on goal but couldn’t get the ball under his control.

The Whites’ pressure gave them the advantage in the 18th minute. Adebayo went to ground under a heavy challenge and the referee took no hesitation to point to the spot.

Adebayo took the responsibility himself and he looked confident as he stepped up, he picked out the bottom right corner and slotted it in.

A golden opportunity came in the 26th minute. From a free kick, Matt O’Riley crossed an exquisite ball to Aron Davies who was unmarked at the back post. Instead of shooting he crossed to Jayden Harris, and the midfielder hit the bar.

The Whites were in full control of the match, moments later Thorsteinsson beat his man into the box and chipped across the face of goal, for a second it looked like it might go in, but a defender in a yellow shirt headed out for a corner.

Thorsteinsson had the next close effort in the 38th minute. Adebayo won the ball in midfield and drove forward, passing to the Icelandic at the edge of the box. He tried to curl one in top right and missed, but not by far.

Norwich had the odd chance in the half, giving the feeling that Fulham might need a second goal to make sure of the win.

Fulham had a chance within minutes of the second half getting under way, O’Riley swung a ball into the box before Adebayo was cut down in the box again, the referee decided this time not to award a spot-kick.

Todd Cantwell hit the bar for the visitors inside the box in the 50th minute, and the Canaries had come out for the second half with much more vigour in their play.

The second half was more even, but Fulham were still getting on the Front foot. 60 minutes in Atkinson looked like he scored heading on target but denied by a point blank save, and Harris got his own header saved by the keeper.

In the 65th minute Elstone had a golden opportunity to stretch the lead, trickery from O’Riley left the front man on goal, but he shot straight at the keeper and spurned his chance.

The last 20 minutes of the match Norwich were applying a lot of pressure on Fulham’s goal as they sat deeper in their own half, it looked like Norwich could grab the equaliser.

However, the match was won with five minutes to go. Fulham broke quickly from a Norwich attack, Isaac Pearce down the right pulled a ball into the box for fellow substitute Thompson and he slotted it past the keeper to double the lead.

The match finished 2-0, it was another fine performance from the Whites.
