George Williams struck twice as Reading were able to pull back level for the points to be shared at Craven Cottage on Friday evening.

Fulham’s Under-23s drew 2-2 at Craven Cottage on Friday evening against Reading. George Williams put the Whites ahead twice but Adrian Popa pulled the Royals level. That makes it eight matches unbeaten for Fulham in the PL2.

Both sides attacked hard early. In the fourth minute Mattias Kait sent a perfectly weighted through ball over the middle of the defence for Jordan Graham to run onto.

The wide man hooked a shot on target but was denied by a good save from George Legg.

Reading countered and Tyler Frost sprinted down the left into the box, he got a shot away but Norman saved at the near post with his leg a minute later.

Fulham took control of the tie by dominating possession and having wave after wave knocking the Reading defence, Graham was getting a lot of the ball down the left.

A great chance came in the 25th minute for Fulham. Williams picked up the ball in midfield and slipped a fantastic through ball into Djed Spence’s path as he sprinted into the left of the box.

The left-back struck hard for the near-post and Legg did well to save, the rebound came to Graham.

The winger took a touch to compose himself and shot at the opposite corner, another strong save from the keeper denied the Whites.

Reading created some half chances by winning corners and Ben House was shooting from outside the area, otherwise Fulham were looking comfortable.

Reading went the closest of the two teams as House fired on target from close range, Spence did phenomenally well by booting the ball off the line to prevent a certain goal.

The breakthrough came on the stroke of halftime, Graham curled an early ball around the Reading defence and three white shirts attacked the box, it was Williams who got on the end and smashed it into the net to take the lead.

Reading had a couple of good chances from corners early in the second half. 53 minutes in Gabriel Osho curled an effort just past the top right corner as a ball was cleared to him.

The visitors pulled a goal back 61 minutes into the match, Popa smashed the ball from outside the area into the top right corner.

Four minutes later the Whites were ahead again. Kait broke hard as a corner was cleared, Graham pulled his defenders out of position and Williams sprinted into to the left. Kait passed him the ball and he rifled a shot across the goal, in off the bar for his second.

Reading equalised shortly after in the 70th minute. The poyals worked their way into the box and Popa slipped his shot under Norman to also claim his second of the match and to equalise again.

Neither team were able to pierce each other’s defences after the goal and both teams looked tired going into the final 10 minutes of the match.

The full time whistle blew to make it six wins and two draws in their eight match unbeaten run in the PL2.
