We are seeking a highly motivated, skillful and enthusiastic individual to join our Academy Performance team as academy psychologist, focusing on the psychological preparation and development of players throughout their Academy journey. You will play a key role in the delivery of the Academy Mental Skills programme including the planning, delivery and evaluation of individual, group and on pitch sessions in line with the Academy’s philosophies.
Duties will include supporting the multi-disciplinary team in the creation and monitoring of player’s Individual Learning Plan’s, training sessions and games, player/parent workshops as well as supporting players through regular reviews. Supporting Academy staff & players with mental health and well-being provisions will also form a part of this role.
Previous experience of working with and supporting the development of children/young adolescents is essential, as are excellent communication and organisational skills. Candidates must have a clear understanding of individualised development and have experience of successfully deploying strategies to support this process.
As a minimum candidates are required to have a Masters degree in Psychology, Sport Psychology or within an equivalent discipline, and must be on route or completed their BPS Stage 2. A minimum of 1-years applied experience within an elite sporting environment is preferred.
Candidates must also hold the FA safeguarding qualifications. A more detailed understanding of safeguarding children plus risk assessing is also preferred for this role.
