Morocco international Adel Taarabt joined Fulham from Queens Park Rangers on a season-long loan in August 2013.
Born in Fes, Morocco, the midfielder moved to France at an early age with his family and began his career with Lens, making a name for himself in the B side and playing one first team game.
His potential was enough to alert the attention of Tottenham Hotspur who signed him on loan in January 2007, then made the deal permanent the following summer after he impressed in a handful of appearances. Having played internationally for France’s youth teams, he chose to represent Morocco at senior level and made his debut in Casablanca against the Czech Republic in February 2009.
His time at White Hart Lane was frustrating and he was not given a chance to prove himself at the top level – instead being sent on loan to QPR for two separate spells before opting to join them permanently ahead of the 2010/11 Championship season.
His skills helped the club to promotion that season: he was named Championship Player of the Year and gained a place in the league’s best XI at the end of the campaign. Becoming a key component of QPR’s attacks, he shone in midfield and netted twice in a 2-1 win over Fulham in 2012/13.However, QPR were relegated at the end of the season and the midfield chose to continue his career in West London, linking up once again with former Tottenham Manager Martin Jol in SW6 for the 2013/14 campaign.
