Csaba Somogyi became the first signing of the Martin Jol era, joining the Whites during the summer of 2011.

The Hungarian stopper was well known to the Manager, having spent time on trial at the Dutchman’s former club Ajax. Despite a move failing to materialise, Somogyi impressed and, after completing a similarly successful period at Motspur Park, Jol moved quickly to bring him in on a full-time deal.

His form for the Development Squad last season, added to his commitment in training, has drawn praise from team-mates and coaches, with the player himself learning much from the experienced Mark Schwarzer.

With a sound reading of play, excellent reflexes and a bold commitment to taking crosses, he is sure to improve further during his time at Craven Cottage. Uncapped, he is hopeful, too, that his move to the Premier League will precede recognition at international level.

Somogyi is currently on loan at Blue Square Bet Premier outfit Dartford.
