Demonstrating an assured reading of play, a bold command of his box and innate capacity for a spectacular save, David Stockdale has risen to become one of the country’s most highly-rated goalkeepers.
In recent seasons the stopper has emerged as a credible contender for Fulham's number one jersey - impressing with a series of performances that defied his relative big match inexperience. Rewarded with an England call-up, he has consistently stepped up to the challenge.
A popular player with fans too, Stockdale has had to work his way to the top and has enjoyed a testing, yet rewarding football education. In his time at the Club, he has spent time out on loan at Rotherham, Leicester, Plymouth and Ipswich.
His manager and coaches rate him highly, while his team-mates talk positively on the part he has already played. Fans too, have underlined his undoubted ability, and stand hopeful that his emergence will safeguard the Club’s goalkeeping future.
On 22nd November 2012 the Club announced that Stockdale had joined Hull City on loan until 2nd January 2013, although he was recalled on 19th December.
In January, though, Stocko did in fact return to the KC Stadium on a temporary deal.
