Biography

Fulham’s productive deadline day dealings continued in January 2014 with the acquisition of Konstantinos Mitroglou from Olympiakos on a four-and-a-half year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The striker moved to Germany at a young age, spending time with MSV Duisburg and Borussia Mönchengladbach before he returned to his homeland with Olympiakos in 2007.

The Greek giants won a league and cup double in Mitroglou’s first season, with the striker securing a further two winner’s medals in each competition in subsequent years, as well as winning the Super Cup.

He spent time out on loan at Panionios and Atromitos – scoring for fun during both spells – before returning to his parent club and truly establishing himself as a top quality striker.

Averaging almost a goal every other game ratio in 2012/13, he improved on that record this season, topping the Superleague charts with 14 goals from his 12 games played prior to his move to Fulham. He also became the first Greek to notch a hat-trick in the UEFA Champions League when his treble downed Anderlecht.

Now established as Greece’s main striker, Mitroglou played a major role in their qualification for the 2014 World Cup Finals, with his three goals over two legs helping to see off Romania 4-2 in the Play-Offs.
