On 31st January 2013, Fulham announced the signing of Urby Emanuelson on loan from AC Milan until the end of the season.
A tricky left-sided player who is at home as a full-back or on the wing, Emanuelson came through the famous youth system at Ajax before making his debut for the first team in 2004.
The 26-year-old went on to make 240 appearances for the side from Amsterdam in seven years, winning three KNVB Cups and three Dutch Super Cups. He moved to Italian giants AC Milan in January 2011 and helped the Rossoneri to the Serie A title in his first season, and played as his new side beat rivals Inter Milan to the Supercoppa Italiana in August 2011.
He was a member of the Netherlands squad that won the UEFA U21 Championship in 2006 and was voted best left-back in the UEFA team of the tournament.
He has earned 16 caps for the Dutch senior side since making his debut against the Republic of Ireland in 2006.
Martin Jol worked with Emanuelson during his time as manager of Ajax in 2009/10.
