When Felix Magath was named First Team Manager at Fulham, he brought in alongside him long-time colleague Werner Leuthard as Conditioning Coach.
Bavarian-born and with a military background, Leuthard spent time in the 1990s as a tennis fitness coach with the German Federations Cup team, before a spell as personal trainer to Germany international striker Fredi Bobic.
He was then appointed conditioning coach at SpVgg Unterhaching, until 2001 when he worked under current national team manager Joachim Löw at FC Tirol Innsbruck in the Austrian Bundesliga. Tirol won the league in his solitary season at the club, but it was later declared bankrupt.
Leuthard then worked with Magath for the first time when he took a role at Stuttgart for a year, although he left to join Austria Vienna for the 2003/04 season.
He was reunited with Magath soon after, though, at Bayern Munich and has also since worked under the current Fulham Manager at VfL Wolfsburg and Schalke 04, before they teamed up once again at Craven Cottage.
