Fulham’s Academy has a long tradition of producing talented young goalkeepers and now German stopper, Max Oberschmidt, wants to show what he can do.
Having been dubbed ‘the new Oliver Kahn’ in his homeland, due to his ability between the sticks and an uncanny physical resemblance, he came in under much anticipation. However, as a result of injury, the youngster’s immediate impact was somewhat restricted.
The German youth international has shown great character in working his way back, and was rewarded with a new deal that will keep him at the Club until 30th June 2014.
To give him a chance to play first team football, he was sent out on loan to Harrow Borough FC in the Ryman Premier League until the end of their 2013/14 season but cut that short to head on loan to Scottish champions Celtic until 31st December 2013.
In early January, he headed out to non-League Slough Town on loan before returning to SW6.
