Honours were even at Motspur Park as Fulham and Chelsea fought out a 0-0 draw on Tuesday evening.

In what was a slightly scrappy encounter at Fulham’s Training Ground, the first moment of note in the game came in the 11th minute. Jay Da Silva flicked a long, diagonal pass towards Jordan Houghton who took a touch before firing in a half-volley which rippled the side-netting.

At the other end, a mazy run by George Williams was ended by a good tackle from Jake Clarke-Salter. In the 22nd minute, Aaron Redford sliced wide of the near post with just the keeper to beat after Williams had sent the striker clear with a slide-rule pass.

Four minutes later, Emerson Hyndman floated in a corner which Noe Baba headed towards goal, with a Chelsea player on hand to clear the ball from near the line.

Chelsea were continuing to cause Fulham problems down the flanks and Da Silva missed his kick as he looked to meet a low Fankaty Dabo cross to the far stick. Da Silva then teed up Charlie Colkett on the edge of the area but the Chelsea captain sent his side-footed effort wide.

Chelsea were inches away from taking the lead in the 38th minute. Colkett cut inside and saw his curling left-footed effort crash off the far post and bounce back off Rodàk but Kyle Scott couldn’t react quickly enough and the ball skimmed the top of his head and went behind.

Tammy Abraham missed a golden chance to put Chelsea in front in the opening minute of the second half, meeting Dabo’s pull-back from the left but sending his shot wide of the far post.

In the 54th minute, Baba’s cross from the left forced Bradley Collins to push the ball behind at his near post, before Da Silva opened up the Fulham defence just after the hour mark to find Muhktar Ali who saw his shot deflected wide. From the resulting corner, Faiqbolkiah’s effort was palmed away by Rodàk.

Soloman Sambou went into the book in the 75th minute for catching Ola Aina, with the referee indicating it was for a series of fouls.

Chelsea were the more threatening side in the final few minutes but some last-ditch defending by Fulham saw the hosts take a point from proceedings.

Fulham: Rodàk, Sheckleford, Donnelly, Adebayo, Baba, Sambou (Shamsi 77), Hyndman (Walker 46), Smile, Williams, Leacock-McLeod, Redford (Humphrys 57).
