A brace from Josh Walker helped Fulham to a fourth successive win after a 3-2 victory over Southampton at Motspur Park.

A brace from Josh Walker helped Fulham Under-18s to a fourth successive win after a 3-2 victory over Southampton at Motspur Park.

Fulham started strongly and went close through Walker, but fell behind in the 24th minute. A long ball forward caught the Whites' defence flatfooted and Joe Lea was left with an unopposed tap-in.

The Whites, though, responded immediately and levelled when a free-kick eventually fell to Walker who fired home on the turn.

Fulham went in front five minutes later. Marlon Fossey was chopped down in the box and Stephen Humphrys slotted home the resulting spot-kick, sending the keeper the wrong way.

Fossey was booked soon after for a foul as he stretched for a loose ball and the remainder of the half proved uneventful.

Eight minutes after the break, Walker got his second of the game and his eighth of the season at Under-18 level, firing in from close range after a free-kick had caused a scramble in the box.

Southampton went close in the 65th minute and pulled one back 60 seconds later with a good finish from the edge of the area by Callum Slattery.

Aron Davies then headed just wide at the other end from a corner and Fulham went close again with time running out as Luca de la Torre’s cross was met by Humphrys who saw his shot parried away.

In the windy conditions, Southampton hurled a late free-kick into the mixer, but Fulham cleared the danger to secure the points.
